Our Projects
OUR PROJECTS
Our organization is involved in numerous projects.
While our mission to end sexual violence remains constant across Southeast Asia, our approach adapts to the unique legal systems, governance, and operational landscapes of each country.
Our work is built on six strategic pillars, tailored to create the most effective impact in every community we serve:
Prevent
• Empowering Communities: We provide training to individuals to be “watchdogs” in their schools and neighborhoods, creating a local network that stays vigilant against sexual violence.
• Education for Action: Our workshops cover online safety, gender equality, sex education, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), safe migration, and the reality of human trafficking and sexual exploitation as well as self-protection strategies. We teach people to recognize offenders’ evolving tactics — regardless of how “trustworthy” they may appear.
• Proactive Support: By being present in the community, we become a trusted point of contact for those in danger, helping them understand their rights and supporting their voluntary exit from exploitative situations.
• Youth Advocacy: Students take the lead by creating their own media to educate peers, ensuring the message of protection continues to spread.
Protect
• Immediate Response: Once we receive reports from victims, families, or partners — we take swift action to ensure the safety of those in danger. We handle every case with the urgency and care needed for high-risk situations.
• Coordinated Rescue: When victims are in remote or restricted areas, we work closely with local authorities, police, and community leaders. Our priority is a safe and successful intervention to remove the survivor from harm.
• Cross-Agency Collaboration: We bridge the gap by coordinating with relevant agencies to provide a seamless transition to safety and immediate care for the victim.
Legal
• Support During Transition: While survivors are being moved to safety, we begin the legal process. We inform them of their rights and support them in pursuing legal action against offenders.
• Overcoming Barriers: Many survivors face trauma caused by people close to them or live in fear of the system. Our team provides the guidance and emotional support needed to help them understand their rights and feel safe enough to seek justice.
• Free Legal Aid: Legal proceedings are often expensive and time-consuming. We provide professional legal advice and assistance at no cost, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of a survivor’s right to justice.
Rehab
• Specialized Counseling & Referral: Our experts provide trauma counseling and conduct professional assessments. We act as a bridge, connecting beneficiaries to essential government healthcare and social services they might not otherwise know how to access.
• Healing Through Creativity: Beyond medical support, we use art, music, and group activities as therapeutic tools. These activities help beneficiaries express their emotions and find peace in a safe, supportive community.
• A Foundation for the Future: We prioritize this phase above all else. By restoring both physical and mental health, we ensure beneficiaries are truly ready for the next steps of skill training and long-term empowerment.
Empower
• Restoring Self-Worth: We work to restore beneficiaries’ inner confidence, helping them recognize their own value and potential. Empowerment starts from within, giving them the strength to take control of their future.
• Education & Vocational Training: For those who wish to study, we support their return to school. For those ready to work, we collaborate with private sector partners to provide specialized training —such as nursing care, hairdressing, and computer skills, ensuring they gain practical skills for the modern job market.
• Career Opportunities & Seed fund: We facilitate internships for younger beneficiaries and provide seed funds for those determined to launch their own small businesses. We also provide career orientation to equip individuals with skills for workforce. Our goal is to provide the financial and professional foundation needed for a sustainable, independent life.
Advocate
• Identifying Vulnerabilities: Working closely with beneficiaries and communities allows us to see the real-world gaps and weaknesses in the legal system and policies. We identify the “loopholes” that offenders exploit to ensure they are addressed.
• Collective Voice: We don’t work alone. We unite with other NGOs and civil society networks to amplify our voice, sharing on-the-ground insights to push for systemic reform.
• Influencing Policy: We present evidence-based proposals and reports to authorities and policymakers. Our goal is to strengthen laws and regulations, ensuring they provide better protection and more comprehensive justice for women and children across the region.
“Women and children are given great opportunities and choices from AAT. Besides, AAT is committed to and recognizes the importance of participation and giving opportunities for women and children. You, too, can be a part to give them the opportunity.”
